The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Northwestern Pickens County in Upstate South Carolina…

* Until 215 AM EDT

* At 1220 AM EDT, Doppler radar a line of showers and thunderstorms
moving slowly southeast across the northern part of Pickens
County. These showers were producing rainfall at rates around 2
inches per hour, and additional heavy rainfall is likely in this
area from Sunset to Rocky Bottom through 2 AM. This will cause
small stream flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include…
Table Rock State Park, Keowee Toxaway State Park, Jocassee Gorges,
Sunset, Sassafras Mountain, Rocky Bottom and Lake Jocassee.
Flooding is most likely along Mill Creek and Little Eastotoe Creek
north of Sunset.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

If heavy rainfall continues, the advisory may be upgraded to a Flash
Flood Warning. People in flood prone areas, especially along creeks
and small streams, should prepare to move to higher ground quickly if
a Flash Flood Warning is issued.

Please report flood water flowing over roads or threatening property,
or landslides to the National Weather Service by calling toll free,
1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, or by posting on our Facebook page, or Tweet

the specific location where it occurred.
