The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Northeastern Chester County in Upstate South Carolina…
Southeastern York County in Upstate South Carolina…

* Until 245 AM EDT

* At 1239 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated very heavy rainfall due to
showers and thunderstorms stretching from Lowrys to Rock Hill, and
points east. These thunderstorms were producing rainfall at rates
around two inches per hour, and additional rainfall at rates of 1
to 2 inches per hour will be possible through 2 am. This will
likely cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include…
Rock Hill, Chester, Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Newport, Lesslie,
Richburg, Lowrys, Catawba and Edgemoor. Flooding will be most
likely along and near South Fork Fishing Creek and Stony Fork in
southern York County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Please report flood water flowing over roads or threatening property,
or landslides to the National Weather Service by calling toll free,
1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, or by posting on our Facebook page, or Tweet
it using hashtag nwsgsp. your message should describe the event and
the specific location where it occurred.
