1155 PM EDT FRI AUG 11 2017

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Small Stream Flood Advisory for Rapid Rises for…
Northeastern Stephens County in northeastern Georgia…
South central Rabun County in northeastern Georgia…
Southwestern Oconee County in Upstate South Carolina…

* Until 145 AM EDT

* At 1152 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding in the
advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have fallen since 11PM.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Walhalla, Westminster, Tallulah Gorge State Park, Long Creek and
Tallulah Falls.

Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over the area.
This is expected to result in minor flooding. Some flooding is
possible within the Sumter national forest. Campers and hikers along
Long…Taylor…Mud and Tamassee creeks and the Chauga river should
head to higher ground.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas, streets
and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying
spots. Rapid rises on small creeks and streams will also occur,
possibly flooding low water crossings and farmland. Do not attempt to
travel across flooded roads. Turn around, dont drown.
