to between 35 and 45 mph at elevations above 4000 feet early Friday.
..Saturday…Winter weather possible. Snow showers may produce 1 to
2 inch accumulations along the ridge tops of the southwest
mountains. A brief period of freezing rain or sleet is also possible
early Saturday.
..Sunday…No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

..Friday…Heavy rain possible. Increasing southerly flow of moist
air will produce localized 2 to 3 inch rainfall totals by Friday
across the eastern side of the southern Appalachians. Although
widespread flooding is not expected, very hard ground from the
recent cold wave could enhance run off of rainwater and produce
rapid stream rises. Gusty winds are likely along the higher terrain
as well.

expected to develop mainly Friday afternoon and evening ahead of a
cold front and associated upper-level disturbance. The combination
of increasing winds through a deep layer of the atmosphere, and
improving instability, may permit a few of the thunderstorms to
become severe. Damaging winds or an isolated brief, weak tornado
will be possible.
