The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Advisory for…
Central Stephens County in northeastern Georgia…
Central Oconee County in Upstate South Carolina…

* Until 915 AM EDT.

* At 611 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to three inches of rain
have fallen across the advisory area since midnight. Although a
lull in the rain is expected to develop later this morning,
additional rainfall of around an inch appears likely before that

Toccoa, Seneca, Walhalla, Westminster, Salem, Eastanolee, and

In addition to the potential for the potential for minor street
flooding from ditches and other overflowing drainages, especially in
urban areas around Toccoa and Seneca, multiple small streams are
expected to rise to near bankfull, especially among the smaller
tributaries to Lakes Hartwell and Keowee.


Heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas, streets
and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying
spots. Rapid rises on small creeks and streams will also occur,
possibly flooding low water crossings and farmland. Do not attempt to
travel across flooded roads. Turn around, dont drown.
