The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for…
Cherokee County in Upstate South Carolina…
* Until 400 PM EDT.
* At 1055 AM EDT, Doppler radar was showing heavy tropical showers
moving into and/or developing atop Cherokee County. Rainfall
across the county has ranged from 2 to 2.5 inches since yesterday,
and localized additional rainfall may be around 2 inches. Flooding
of streams and low-spots is likely to develop, especially along
and northwest of I-85, and across greater Gaffney.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Gaffney, Blacksburg, Cowpens National Battlefield, Cherokee Falls,
Draytonville, Thicketty and Kings Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross
water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. Only a few
inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. It is
not worth the risk. Please TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.
